Jean-Pierre Smadja(艺名 Smadj)出生在突尼斯，随后移居巴黎，成为巴黎舞台上极具标志性的音乐人。不久他放弃吉它改用乌德琴（阿拉伯/土耳其琵琶）进行演奏，用电子乐和狂野风 格改编最传统的 Taksims（木卡姆的前奏），赢得了世界声誉。混合原声和电子是 Smadj 的标 志：他的独奏曲目从传统的乌德琴弹奏（有时使用 MIDI）到电子乌德琴弹奏；从古典编曲到电 子特效。与他合作的音乐家数不胜数：Talvin Singh， Amit Chatterjee， Rokia Traor， Mehdi Haddab, Dom Farkas, Natacha Atlas , Ibrahim Maalouf… Smadj 也是著名的制作人（Laurent de Wilde 的《Stories》专辑就出自他的手下） 。 

Jean-Pierre Smadja (aka Smadj) was born in Tunisia. Arriving soon after in Paris, he became one of the landmark of the capital effervescent scene. Dropping the guitar for the oud (Turquish or Arabic lute), he made himself a name at an international scale with his electric and wild arrangements of the most traditional taksims (instrumental and solo introduction of a maqâm). Mixing acoustic and electric is Smadj’s signature: his repertory is going from traditional oud – with or without effects and MIDI processing) to electric oud ; from compositions in the way of the classic masters to electronic influences. He collaborates with Talvin Singh , Amit Chatterjee, Rokia Traoré, Mehdi Haddab, Dom Farkas, Natacha Atlas , Ibrahim Maalouf ... Smadj is also a well-known producer (Laurent de Wilde’s “Stories” to name one of his realization).

Jean-Pierre Smadja (alias Smadj) voit le jour en Tunisie avant de rejoindre la scène parisienne. Il abandonne alors la guitare pour le oud (luth arabe ou turc) et se fait un nom à l’échelle internationale avec ses arrangements électriques et déjantés des plus classiques taksims (introduction instrumentale et solo d’un maqâm). Le mélange acoustique et électrique reste sa signature : son répertoire solo passe du oud traditionnel – avec ou sans effet et traitements MIDI - au oud électrique ; de compositions à la manière des maîtres classiques aux influences les plus électroniques. Il a notamment collaboré avec Talvin Singh , Amit Chatterjee, Rokia Traoré, Mehdi Haddab, Dom Farkas, Natacha Atlas , Ibrahim Maalouf. Smadj mène parallèlement à sa carrière de musicien une activité de producteur (notamment l’album « Stories » de Laurent de Wilde).
