3月17日，哥大全球中心 | 北京邀请您参加由哥大建筑、规划与保护研究生院（GSAPP）教授Leah Meisterlin主讲的专题讲座——《制图学中的距离与差异》。

本次讲座将结合历史和当代实例，介绍当前数字地图技术的研究现状，展示地理呈现的多元化。该项技术主要运用于揭示社区和群体之间未呈现的差异，包括结构差异和空间实践差异（尤其是性别之间的空间实践）。Meisterlin教授将提出一种理解城市距离的新地图框架，希望促使更多人使用该方法绘制城市。

On March 17, Columbia Global Centers | Beijing invites you to a public talk by Leah Meisterlin, Assistant Professor in Urban Planning at Columbia GSAPP.

With historical and contemporary examples, this talk presents current research on techniques of digital mapping, in pursuit of pluralism in geospatial representation. The project focuses on revealing unrepresented variations between communities and groups, variations that are etched onto cities by structural differences in daily constraints and concomitant spatial practices, particularly between the genders. Toward this aim, the talk presents an alternative cartographic framework for understanding urban distance, one that hopes to prompt consideration of whose city we map based on the methods we use.

Leah Meisterlin

哥伦比亚大学建筑、规划与保护研究生院城市学家、地理信息系统（GIS）方法学家兼城市规划助理教授。她的研究领域涉及空间正义的共时问题、信息伦理以及基础设施网络对社会和政治空间建设的影响，她目前致力于研究数字技术重组城市空间政治的方式以及改变城市研究的当代和历史方法。

加入哥大之前，Meisterlin曾在哥大巴纳德学院和新泽西理工学院建筑与设计学院任教。在专业领域内，她为21世纪城市主义的多个实验和探索实践做出了贡献：联合创办了空间系统咨询公司MG；担任Special Project Office研究主管；联合创办了设计和研究工作室Pre-Office，在美国止赎危机后研究设计流程背后的组织结构。

Leah Meisterlin is an urbanist, GIS methodologist, and Assistant Professor in Urban Planning at Columbia GSAPP. Broadly, her research engages concurrent issues of spatial justice, informational ethics, and the effects of infrastructural networks on the construction of social and political space. Her current research explores the ways in which digital technologies are restructuring urban spatial politics and altering methods, both contemporary and historical, of urban research.

吴维平

哥伦比亚大学建筑、规划与保护研究生院城市规划专业主任

吴维平教授是一位国际知名的规划学专家，她专注于中国城市的移民、住房和基础设施等问题的研究。她出版过七本书籍，在顶级国际期刊上发表过许多文章，其中包括她最新出版的、备受关注的《中国城市》一书。《中国城市》剖析中国的城镇化进程，探索中国城市的复杂性如何符合并颠覆了西方传统城市理论和经验。她任全美规划院校联合会主席和中国城市研究网的国际顾问委员会委员，并担任4家期刊的编委会委员。此外，她还在福特基金会、林肯土地政策研究所和世界银行担任过顾问职务。

Weiping Wu is Professor of Urban Planning at Columbia GSAPP and Director of the M.S. Urban Planning program. Trained in architecture and urban planning, Professor Wu is an internationally acclaimed planning scholar working on global urbanization with a specific expertise in issues of migration, housing, and infrastructure of Chinese cities. Her published work has gained an increasing public presence, particularly her recent book The Chinese City. It offers a critical understanding of China’s urbanization, exploring how the complexity of Chinese cities both conforms to and defies conventional urban theories and experience of cities elsewhere around the world. She is the President of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning and a member of the International Advisory Board for the Urban China Research Network, as well as serving on the editorial board of four journals. In addition, she has provided consultation to the Ford Foundation, Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, and World Bank.
