前言｜Preface 

《Crossing Paths 交集｜摄影展》是Mariana Lozano和Jose Luis Vilchez的合作展。两位来自不同地域与背景的艺术家，因为怀揣着同样一份对旅行的热情，各自走遍世界各地。一共游历了一百多个国家，贯穿五大洲。并通过他们手中的相机记录自然风光、人文景色、风俗民情和喜怒哀乐在此凝固成艺术的一瞬。

在2016年的6月份，这两位艺术家在中国广州他乡遇知音。在分享各自旅行中的收获后，他们对彼此的摄影作品的关联性产生了浓厚的兴趣：他们是否曾经同样关注于一些情节？是否曾拥有共同的经历？又分别于何时去了相同的地方，在何地他们又使用了相似的记录形式？在对彼此作品关联性的探索中，他们发现了意想不到的趣味。 

在将他们的摄影作品进行分析对比与整合后，Lozano和Vilchez领悟到了这些照片背后新的意义。他们的个人视角已由这些影像交织成新的篇章。此次展览上所挑选的照片代表的不仅仅是这两位艺术家摄影上的交集，还更多地折射出照片中每一个人与其他人之间的集合。更重要的是，这些照片讲述了这样一个事实：我们每一个人，可能信奉不同的宗教，使用不同的语言，拥有不同的肤色，但我们同属一个人类族群。比起所呈现的不同点，我们的相似之处更具价值。

Crossing Paths is a collaborative photography exhibition featuring artists Mariana Lozano and José L. Vílchez. With a common passion for travel, both artists have journeyed independently throughout the world. Combined, they have visited more than one hundred countries on five continents. Lozano and Vílchez have documented their travel experiences in many ways but most notably, through the lenses of their cameras. They have captured landscapes, architectural landmarks, portraits, celebrations, joy, and sorrow.

In July 2016, the artists crossed paths in Guangzhou, China. The idea for this exhibition came after a conversation between Lozano and Vílchez in which they swapped experiences from the road. By sharing their travel stories, they developed a deep interest in each other’s photography. Had they paid attention to the same details? Were they having common experiences? When they visited the same places, did they document them in a similar manner? By answering these questions, they discovered that there were many commonalities and differences in their experiences. 

After comparing, contrasting and blending their two bodies of work, Lozano and Vílchez have found new meanings in the images they captured. Their individual perspectives have now become interwoven to put these images into a new context. The images selected for this exhibition represent not only the crossing paths of these two artists but now they also represent the crossing paths of all the people they photographed. Most importantly, these images talk about the fact that we may have different religions, different languages, different colored skin, but we all belong to one human race and we are more similar than we are different.

艺术家｜Artists

出生于阿根廷。18岁之后搬至欧洲生活了十年，期间在西班牙巴塞罗那学习摄影相关课程，与有名的时尚摄影师JoanAlsina合作，在意大利佛罗伦萨担任生活杂志的编辑及设计师。此后又回到阿根廷继续深造并成为摄影与电影制作方面的自由创作者。

2015-2016 卢斯（短片） -- 关于父女之间爱与奋斗的故事（布宜诺斯艾利斯，阿根廷）

Luz (Short film) ,as a director and producer.Buenos Aires, Argentina

Luz is the name of a short film, which tells the story of the relationship between a daughter (Luz) who is 20 years old and her father (Hugo). Luz is a passionate girl in the search of professional development and her father Hugo is an alcoholic and a cocaine addict. Her wife abandoned Hugo when Luz was only 4 years old, as a teenager Luz had to deal with her father’s problems without having her mother by her side. This is a story of love and struggle between father and daughter. 

出生于尼加拉瓜。17岁之后在美国迈阿密生活了十年，期间有八年时间以刺绣印花经商。因厌倦了工作无法满足的创作自由而进行了长达两年半的边谋生边旅游的生活。后来又回到了美国，在芝加哥艺术学校学习艺术，并在毕业后带着身上仅有的3000美元和乐器环游世界。 Jose创作上的灵感主要来自旅行经历，社交互动，以及其他艺术家的影响。
